If you’re looking to lose some weight, you’ve probably heard that swimming is an ideal way to do so. Swimming helps tone your muscles and promotes better cardio health. Plus, it’s fun! Many gyms have swimming pools, and many gyms have paddle tennis courts. Why not combine the two into a single workout? That’s how paddle tennis and swimming get together, which is how you get paddle tennis with swimming. The two combined are a perfect way to shed some pounds.
But what’s the best way to swim to lose weight? How much should you swim, in what kind of water, and how often should you swim? To figure out the best way to swim to lose weight, we posed these questions to Chris Duffey, owner of Anexi Fitness in New York City. Here’s what he said:
Do Different Strokes To Get Different Effects
When doing cardio, it’s best to choose a variety of exercises to give your body different kinds of challenges. In the case of swimming, that means doing different strokes. Doing backstroke helps build your arms because it works your muscles in a different way than, say, a front crawl. So you get a different kind of workout. Try out a few different strokes to see which one suits you best. Different strokes might also suit you according to the type of weight you want to lose. For example, if you want to shed lower pounds, you might want to focus more on your kick than your crawl. On the other hand, if you want to lose upper pounds, you might want to focus more on your crawl than your kick. Choose which one gives you the best workout based on your body type and the type of weight you want to shed. Once you’ve chosen your stroke, stick with it and don’t mix up too much else. Changing your stroke too often can cause you to lose rhythm, which then throws off the effect you’re trying to achieve. When you find your rhythm, stick with it and enjoy the workout. Changing your stroke too often also makes it easier for the rest of the world to play havoc with your schedule. They might want to grab some friends and family to join them in the fun, but you know what, so do you.
Try Different Water Temperatures To Get The Best Effect
You don’t really need a reason to swim in water that’s the right temperature. But the fact is, different temperatures feel better. When the water is slightly warmer than your body temperature, it feels great as you’re coming out of the pool after a hard workout. On the other hand, if the water is too hot, it can leave you feeling a bit sluggish the next day, especially if you drink a lot of it. When selecting a place to swim, check the temperature of the water and make sure it’s at a comfortable level for you. If you’re not familiar with the water temperature, ask the person at the pool hall or sports club you’re visiting if they can help you out. If they’re not sure, you might want to ask someone at the hotel you’ll be staying at. For optimum results, try out a few different temperatures and see which one feels best for you. Remember: everyone’s body is different, so your perfect swim temperature may be a bit different from everyone else’s. That’s why it’s important to try out different temperatures and see which one feels best for you.
The Importance Of Cardio In Weight Loss
If you really want to lose weight, it’s important to do so in a healthy manner. One way to do so is through cardio, which can be any activity that raises your heart rate. The amount of weight you want to lose is important because it affects how often you do cardio. If you do so every day, you’ll shed more weight than if you do it just once a week. The most important thing is that you feel good while doing it. If you feel like your heart is beating fast and you’re breathing heavily, it means you’re working hard and it’s good. Remember: your body needs calories to stay alive, so while weight loss may be the primary goal, make sure you’re not also losing healthy foods along with the calories. For example, sugar contributes to tooth decay and puts you at risk for diabetes, so it’s best to avoid it as much as you can. Your body needs the healthy fats in meat to stay strong and protected from infections, so try to include these foods whenever you can. Fats also help you absorb fat-soluble vitamins, such as vitamins A, D, and E, so you need to include them in your diet as well.
Now that you’re equipped with the basics of how to swim to lose weight, it’s time to put it into practice. Visit your local pool or bring your own pool to the office, and get swimming. You’ll be doing your body good, and you might just lose a few pounds along with it.
