A while back, I made the decision to overhaul my entire wardrobe, both interior and exterior. While I was shopping for new wardrobes, I came across a number of pieces of clothing that I deemed as “unnecessary” and packed away. In the process, I lost a massive amount of weight, and I couldn’t believe it! Since then, I’ve learned more about what it takes to lose extreme weight, and I’m here to share my findings with you.
Keep A Food Diary
As soon as you make the decision to lose weight, you need to start keeping a food diary. The purpose of a food diary is to keep track of everything that you put into your body, so that you can identify any patterns and habits that you may need to shed. You can download a food tracking app like MyFitnessPal or Lose It, which can help you keep track of what you eat throughout the day. Alternatively, you can use a basic notebook and pen to log every single meal and drink.
Whatever method you choose, just make sure that you keep up with the practice and find it useful. If you aren’t used to recording what you eat and drink, it can be incredibly tricky to get into the habit of doing so, especially if you are trying to lose weight fast. Make it a point to enter everything that you eat and drink into your diary, even if it’s just a couple of occasions each week. This way, you’ll start to see the results of your efforts sooner than you would have otherwise.
Start Exercising
If you’re looking to shed some extra pounds, then you need to start exercising. Regardless of whether you desire to lose weight for aesthetic reasons or for medical purposes, regular exercises have numerous benefits. In addition to helping you look fantastic, exercise can also boost your mood, relieve stress, and provide you with more energy. Talk to your physician about what exercises may be suited to you, so that you can start using them as soon as possible.
Eat Clean, Healthy Foods
To lose weight fast, you need to consume clean, healthy foods. You already know what foods are bad for you, so you don’t need to be reminded. The most effective way to lose weight is by maintaining a healthy balance between the three main food groups: carbohydrates, proteins, and fats. In addition, make sure to consume the recommended seven to eight servings of fruit and vegetables each day.
When choosing foods to eat, you need to pay attention to what kinds of ingredients are in them. Look for foods that are low in carbs and high in fiber, like vegetables, beans, and whole grains. When possible, opt for organic produce, as the toxins present in pesticides can potentially cause you to gain weight. In addition, choose free-range, organic poultry and dairy products, as well as wild-caught fish, if you can.
Reduce Stress
Stress is one of the major factors that prevent many people from losing weight. If you’re constantly stressed, you may crave certain foods that temporarily relieve your tension. While this may seem like a positive phenomenon, eating to regulate your mood can cause you to gain weight. In addition to this, stress also interrupts the nutrient flow in your body, resulting in less energy, poor appetite, and subsequently more weight gain. If you’re looking to shed some pounds, then you need to be mindful of the stress that you’re facing and try to reduce it where you can.
Get Enough Sleep
To lose weight, you need to get enough sleep. Yes, this may seem obvious, but it’s astonishing how many people are constantly struggling with this issue. The human body requires a certain amount of time to restore and repair itself, and your body doesn’t operate at its best when you don’t get enough sleep. When this happens, you may experience fatigue, lack of concentration, and increased appetite, all of which make it more difficult for you to lose weight. Try to get at least seven hours of sleep each night, and if you can, then opt for an additional hour or two in the morning to help you wake up naturally. In addition to this, avoid eating a heavy meal within three hours of going to bed, so that your body can process the food more effectively. Finally, avoid consuming alcohol, which can interfere with the sleep-inducing chemicals in your body. It’s often said that excessive alcohol consumption results in involuntary weight gain, so if you’re looking to drink alcohol to lose weight, then you should probably consider watching your intake or switching to a more healthy drink.
Cut out all foods and drinks that contain added sugar, and you’ll notice that your body starts changing almost immediately. Once you start seeing the results of your efforts, you’ll be motivated to keep going. Before you know it, you’ll be losing weight without even trying, because it just feels right!
